Our Services

Children's Play Therapy and Counselling

Children can express distress through behaviour, emotions, or physical symptoms. Counselling can help children feel safer, cope with worries, and develop healthy ways to regulate and express emotions. Through play therapy, children can express feelings and make sense of their experiences in a way that feels fun, natural and safe. In person only for ages 2-10.

Counselling and EMDR Therapy

People often seek therapy when they experience ongoing distress, anxiety, or emotional triggers. Therapy offers a supportive environment to address these challenges and promote healing. I use an integrated approach, including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), to help process distressing memories and reduce their impact.

Frequently Asked Questions

I believe the most important skill a therapist can have is the ability to build genuine, trusting relationships with the people they work with. While counselling often involves exploring serious and difficult experiences, I believe the process can be engaging, meaningful, and even enjoyable! At the heart of my approach is a simple principle: therapists should be human first !

Alongside this relational approach, I bring a high level of professional training and experience that allows me to tailor therapy thoughtfully and effectively to each person’s needs.

As both a counsellor and a social worker, I offer more than therapeutic support alone. I am also experienced in case management and advocacy, allowing me to provide holistic support when practical assistance and system navigation are needed alongside therapy.

I hold Bachelors and Masters level qualifications in counselling and social work, and have completed specialist training in Play Therapy and EMDR. In addition to my clinical work, I currently teach counselling and provide clinical supervision to both emerging and experienced counsellors and social workers.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy is a well-researched psychological treatment commonly used to help people recover from trauma, including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), as well as other emotional difficulties.

EMDR is based on the understanding that distressing experiences can sometimes remain “unprocessed” in the brain, which can lead to ongoing negative thoughts, feelings, and reactions. During EMDR therapy, the client gently brings a difficult memory or issue to mind while the therapist guides them through a form of bilateral stimulation, most often guided eye movements, or sometimes sounds or tapping. This process is thought to support the brain’s natural ability to process and integrate memories.

Over time, many people find that these memories become less vivid or distressing, and that new, more helpful perspectives begin to emerge.

EMDR therapy follows a structured eight-phase approach. The early stages focus on understanding the client’s experiences and building coping skills before any trauma processing begins. Because of this, each person’s EMDR journey looks a little different and moves at a pace that feels safe and appropriate.

During an EMDR session, the client remains fully awake, aware, and in control. The therapist will guide the process carefully, allowing time for reflection, support, and grounding before the session ends.

Play therapy is a developmentally appropriate and evidence-based approach that allows children to express themselves in a way that feels safe and familiar. For many children, talking about problems directly can feel overwhelming or confusing—but through play, they can show us what’s going on inside. Just as adults use words to express their thoughts and feelings, children use play to explore their world, process experiences, and make sense of big emotions.

As a trained therapist, I use play-based techniques to help children:

  • Express emotions they may not yet have the words for—such as fear, anger, sadness, or confusion

  • Process difficult experiences like trauma, grief, or big life changes

  • Develop problem-solving skills and learn how to cope with challenges in healthy ways

  • Build confidence and resilience by mastering new emotional and social skills

Play therapy can support children experiencing:

  • Anxiety or worry

  • Behavioural or emotional challenges

  • Trauma or grief

  • Difficulties with relationships, school, or major changes

Play therapy is used for children aged 2-10 years and is a medium term therapy with an average commitment of 15-25 sessions.

I offer clinical supervision for counsellors and social workers who are seeking a supportive, ethical, and reflective space to grow in their practice.

Supervision provides a confidential setting where you can:

  • Reflect on client work and professional boundaries

  • Explore ethical dilemmas and complex cases

  • Receive emotional support and prevent burnout

  • Build confidence in your clinical skills and self-awareness

  • Maintain alignment with professional standards and self-care

  • Gain support in counselling business set up

Whether you're newly qualified or an experienced practitioner, supervision is a vital part of sustainable, ethical practice. I provide a non-judgmental, collaborative environment where you can feel supported and professionally nourished.

Individual and group supervision is available online or in person.

An Employee Assistance Program provides employees with confidential counseling, resources, and support to improve well-being and address personal or workplace challenges. Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) help businesses support their workforce while driving measurable results. They also help address workplace conflicts and prevent bigger HR issues, fostering a culture of wellness that attracts and retains top talent—all in a cost-effective way that protects both employees and the bottom line.
